North is a technology company building the AI stack the legal industry runs on. The model is the brain. What makes it stick is everything we build around it: the harness that wires in a firm's entire corpus, the governed skill library, the agents, and the desktop the firm actually works in. Forward deployed engineering is where that stack meets the real world.
As an FDE in France you embed with cabinets d'avocats and notaires, learn their hardest workflows, and ship frontier AI into daily use, feeding everything you learn straight back into the product.
What you own
- Embed on-site with flagship French firms and map where the hours actually go.
- Translate a firm's most idiosyncratic workflows (diligence, actes, closings, review) into firm-specific applications on our platform.
- Own deployments end to end, from first build to daily use to expansion.
- Close the loop to product: what to productize, what stays bespoke.
- Be the technical trust-builder in the room with associés, in-house counsel, and IT and security.
What we look for
- A strong hands-on engineer who can sit with a customer and build, not just advise.
- A forward-deployed, implementation, or solutions-engineering background (Palantir FDE, enterprise-AI deployment, or AI implementation at a top firm) is a plus.
- Fluency with modern AI tooling: agents, retrieval, evals, prompt and context engineering.
- Fluent in French and comfortable in the French legal context.
- France-based (Paris preferred). This is an in-person, embed-heavy role.
The stack you build on
- Our agent runtime and the governed skill library that runs the work.
- Retrieval over a firm's full corpus of matters, documents, and email.
- Evals and guardrails that keep every output cited and governed.
- The macOS desktop client the whole firm lives in.
Nice to have
- Direct legal or legaltech deployment experience.
- Security and enterprise-readiness fluency (SOC 2, on-prem or VPC, data governance).
- A track record of building tooling and playbooks from zero.
